Submission GuidelinesTO SUBMIT: Please send all submissions to ekphrasismagazine@gmail.com. Submissions should be in .pdf form (for text) or 300 dpi .png (for visual art), named with the title of the piece. As we are committed to making the review process impartial, please do not include your name anywhere on the document. We are happy to review as many pieces as you care to submit, but each piece should be in a separate .pdf document. While we will review and accept pieces of any length, we may contact you about publishing an excerpt if your piece exceeds our page limits. We will not excerpt your piece without your approval. This year, all submissions will also be considered on a rolling basis for online publication.
In the body of the email, include your preferred name, a short explanation of how your work is in conversation with other art (~50 words), and any other relevant information about the work you submit. This will not factor into the review process, but (unless you indicate otherwise) may be included in the published edition. |
Ekphrasis is interested, broadly, in outward-looking perspectives, in art in conversation with and responsive to other art. Our focus is on visual and literary art that is "ekphrastic" in nature. The scope that this covers is broad: literature inspired by painting, photography, film, performance; visual art provoked by poems, prose, essays, journalism, etc. We request any work that finds its home in interdisciplinary expression. This includes visually-adventurous poetry, non-conventional prose, scripts, screenplays, reviews, original translation, and more. If your work is inspired by a particular piece (in the public domain or otherwise), please indicate that in the body of your email! We encourage artistic collaborations. If you are working in conjunction with another artist, please submit your piece(s) through one email, and clearly indicate the authorship in the body of the email. If you are not sure if your work meets those criteria, send us an email at ekphrasismagazine@gmail.com with the subject line "QUERY". Or, feel free to submit regardless! We are seeking a wide range of pieces and perspectives. |
